![]() Omer Sharif: We have enough content to groom both the riders & the bikers and our customer care team does an excellent job regarding this. We can call them early adopters of anything new. We somehow attracted the young generation mostly from day one. We see most of the users are students and young job-holders who have just started their career. Omer Sharif: At this moment, as we are yet to launch in full swing and still testing stability of every aspects of our app we have around 100 rides a day on most of the days most of which comes to our network almost organically. MBR: Could you please shed some light on the riders’ profile (demographic, profession, income)? No matter how much ride drivers want to do it’ll be there for them they’ll just have to agree/accept earning coming towards them. Omer Sharif: We want to utilize our referral system “Dosto Network” to minimize cash burning on already discounted riders and want to make the drivers part of our logistic network to give them extra earning during non-pick hours of Ride sharing so that they remain happy and give better experience to our CHALAO customers. MBR: What trends would you like to bring in this space? Due to the rewards & discounts & cash-back offers drivers/customer finds out really interesting ways to exploit the system for which you need to involve screening mechanism for trips, which again is a total waste of resources. Another critical thing is Fake Rides, which is annoying for everyone. When you impose strict onboarding rules to minimize risks for customers, it becomes tough for you to get enough drivers for the network. Another problem is that many unprofessional drivers got into the market and most of them are getting absorbed in the industry due to lack of drivers. The main essence of ride sharing is to solve transportation problem, not to burn money in some sick competition of taking over the market. ![]() Omer Sharif: The challenge we are currently facing is to make the users realize that discounts are temporary, they will not get discounted rides forever. MBR: What are the challenges are you facing currently at the initial phase? Our purpose is to build a sustainable network of drivers & customers who will be there for each other’s demand, not for discounts only. We are taking a merely 6% from the drivers to run the platform which will not increase in future & we are also giving major portion of this 6% back to other users of Dosto network. There is no place for discount code in our app as all our rides are already discounted when you compare with other ride sharing apps. We follow a strict rider recruitments and we try to on board decent drivers only. We want to avoid any sort of heavy cash burning which pushes us into the vicious cycle of raising-burning-stressing. ![]() ![]() Omer Sharif: We are not in aggressive competition with ride-sharing players like UBER, Pathao, Shohoz Rides, MUV or any other players in the market as the whole idea of coming into this scene of Ride Sharing is to facilitate our own home grown logistic network which we have built for our over past few years. ![]() How do you position yourself differently in the market in terms of service quality, better pricing or any other strategy? MBR: Ride-sharing services like Pathao, Uber have already got customer acceptance and popularity. Also, we facilitate the riders by offering Dosto Network where riders can earn by referrals. CHALAO will not be used to earn direct cash profit from the ride sharing business as the company will be taking a very minimal percentage of what the riders earn. Omer Sharif: We have ventured into this space to create new opportunities, shape up whatever resources available in the current market and build an ecosystem not only for ride sharing but also for any related wing that can be empowered by this work force on the road. MBR: As a new entrant in the ride-sharing space, what opportunities do you discern in the market? ![]()
